About Soung

I have over a 12-year experience in tutoring K-12 students in many subjects, but Math and Science are my strong points. Also, I have 9 years of experience as a Youth Pastor at our church from 2015 to 2024. I really have a passion for teaching and tutoring young people of all ages. From 2008 to 2019, I have tutored many young students in Math, Science, and History. This experience has been very fruitful for me in terms of teaching me how to keep students interested and therefore motivated throughout the lessons.

I teach in an effective manner for young students: 1) teaching and questioning method for active learning 2) repetition that makes for good understanding and consolidation 3) more positive than negative reinforcements- through direct verbal praise, hand signals, and using a point system for prizes. Typical lesson plan: having goals of 2-3 concepts; first give a short lecture type lesson and give examples; ask key questions for understanding; and give the student a chance to work on problems to solve. My tutor philosophy is to allow students to be engaged in the session without boredom, and to challenge them to think through and gain insight on the lesson. The lessons are geared for middle and high school students.
