About Marisol

Hello! My name is Marisol, and I am a Biochemistry student at Rutgers University specializing in Toxicology. I have several years of experience providing one-on-one tutoring in science, math, and English, and I truly enjoy helping students turn confusing subjects into concepts they can understand and feel confident about.

I know that every student learns differently, so I create a patient, welcoming environment where students feel comfortable asking questions. I have experience developing personalized lesson plans, leading educational workshops for neurodivergent students, and introducing children and families to scientific topics through hands-on astronomy activities.

Whether you need help preparing for an exam, completing homework, strengthening your study habits, or understanding a difficult biology or chemistry concept, I am here to support you. My goal is to make science feel less intimidating, help you recognize your abilities, and give you the tools to succeed independently.

About the lesson

My approach as a tutor is to make biology and chemistry easier to understand by breaking difficult topics into smaller, more manageable steps. I focus on helping students understand the reasoning behind a concept instead of only memorizing facts or formulas.
Although each lesson plan is personalized, a typical lesson begins with a quick review of the student’s current topic, homework, or upcoming exam. We then identify the areas causing the most difficulty and work through them together. I explain the concept, demonstrate examples, and then allow the student to solve similar problems with my guidance. At the end of the lesson, we review the main ideas and create a plan for what the student should practice next.
I am patient, encouraging, and willing to explain a topic in multiple ways until it makes sense. My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but also to help them become more confident and independent learners.
My lessons are designed for middle school, high school, and college students who need support in biology, environmental science, general chemistry, or organic chemistry.
