I believe that the better you are at explaining complex ideas in simple terms the deeper your knowledge of it is. I live every day of my life trying to learn new things. My love of learning allows me to inspire and encourage others to learn as well.
I am a graduate student with a conditional acceptance into the Alternate Teaching Licensure program at New Mexico State University. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. I make science easier by presenting information in a way that makes sense.
I am currently enrolled in New Mexico State University Alternate Teaching Licensure graduate program on the condition I obtain a teaching position/offer. I have a deep love for science, biology most intensely, and am working toward obtaining a teaching position. I want to share my love and knowledge with students about the sciences and inspire them to enter into STEM fields. I am the most interested in inspiring the future generations of women to enter into STEM fields.
Teaching is what my innate instincts call me towards, absolutely, and what my life experiences have molded me to become. From the age of 18, and with a newborn son, I began my career as an electronics technician. For 15 years I worked in the manufacturing industry building, testing, and repairing electronic equipment of varying types but with an emphasis on the radio frequency, or RF, branch. I was a single mother of 2 working in a male dominated field. In the 15 years I worked in this industry there were only 3 other women that were my colleagues.
I entered Suffolk County Community College in and then began my university career at New Mexico State University in 2011 and immersed myself in science classes, laboratory work, and bioinformatics. I learned that I was very adept presenting information in a way that made it easier to grasp for everyone. I also learned that I love helping people understand a subject that I find fascinating. I graduated in September of 2020 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. I have a GPA of 3.23 after 185 credits.
aI enjoy taking complex ideas and presenting them in a simple, matter-of-fact way for others to understand. In secondary school I believe it is the basic facts of our world that students need to try and grasp. These basic facts have been studied for millennial and have been distilled into basic ideas. The exact names of microscopic processes can be saved for higher education but basic scientific theories; Biology, Chemistry; Physics, need to be learned early. This puts down the groundwork to succeed in aforementioned higher education.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your consideration. Student-centered learning environments need to be nurtured by those with a passion for their subject. As an addition to your school, this is exactly what I will bring. I look forward to learning more about both your hiring process and your students.
