About Ryan
My experience as a tutor is more limited as I have just graduated from college but I believe the experience that I have gained provides me with fresh insight into the types of questions that are asked in these classes and the methods that are necessary in performing exceptionally in these fields. I am beginning a position conducting active research with the NIH here in Bethesda and see tutoring as an opportunity to remain fluent in the concepts that I have learned throughout my education. I am experienced with working with college students but would like to stress that I am also very comfortable with working with all age groups as I grew up with a younger sibling and have been very active in helping him with his studies and communicating the material in easier ways to comprehend.

I am a recent graduate of the University of Miami and received my B.S. degree in Biology and minors in geology and environmental policy. I have always had a passion for pursuing science even throughout my high school career. Over the years I have gained a familiarity with the material taught in various classes and have learned to effectively teach others. I am skilled with working with colleagues my own age but also skilled with working with younger age groups as well since I have a 13 year old younger brother. In teaching Biology along with several other fields of science, repetition and visualization of the material being taught is crucial. Most of my methodology for teaching consists of memorizing and understanding core concepts before delving into the more specific material. Visualization and active problem solving using aids such as whiteboards and index cards are a very effective way of becoming proficient with the material in such classes.
