About Sarah
I’m a biology graduate from Acadia University with research assistant experience and a strong love for ecology, botany, agriculture, and plant science.
I may be new to formal tutoring, but I’m not new to teaching. As a lifeguard and swim instructor, I learned how to be patient, encouraging, and clear with students of all confidence levels.
My goal is to make biology feel less overwhelming and more connected to the real world. I offer calm, friendly, and supportive tutoring that helps students build confidence step by step.

My tutoring approach is patient, supportive, and practical. I like to begin by understanding what the student is currently learning, where they feel stuck, and what kind of support they need most. From there, I break biology concepts into smaller, clearer steps and use real-life examples to make the material easier to understand. I especially enjoy connecting biology to plants, ecosystems, agriculture, and the natural world.
A typical lesson would start with a quick check-in about the student’s current classwork, homework, quiz, test, or lab. We would then review the main topic together, identify the confusing parts, and work through examples or practice questions step by step. I like to leave time at the end for review, questions, and a simple summary of what the student should focus on next.
What sets me apart is my background in biology and my experience teaching practical skills as a lifeguard and swim instructor. I am new to formal tutoring, but I have experience helping children and youth build confidence, stay motivated, and learn at their own pace. I am calm, encouraging, and good at adapting my approach to different learning styles.
My lessons are best suited for middle school science students, high school biology students, and students taking introductory university-level biology. I can help with general biology, ecology, botany, plant science, agriculture-related biology, ecosystems, cell biology basics, evolution, genetics, lab concepts, homework support, test preparation, and building overall confidence in science.
