About Ella
Hello! My name is Ella. I've recently finished my PhD in Molecular Plant Sciences at the University of Edinburgh, following on from getting my BA in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge.
I've been tutoring since September 2019 in Biology, Chemistry and Maths. I really enjoy getting to help students make progress in their learning. I feel a real sense of fulfilment when you can see a student suddenly understand a topic they had been struggling with previously.

I have been working as a private tutor since September 2019, teaching Biology, Chemistry and Maths from GCSE/Nat 5 to A Level/Advanced Highers. I've tutored across a range of specifications, and can also help with university applications, including for Cambridge. Sessions are an hour, but can be longer if the student would like.
I ask students to let me know what material they would like to cover at least 24 hours in advance. This gives me plenty of time to prepare for sessions and importantly, prepare lesson notes. I share these with the student either before or after the session. The benefit of this is that it means the student doesn't have to worry about writing everything down and can focus on having a conversation with me and asking questions (Although if a student does want to write a lot down, I'm not going to stop them!)
The content in my sessions is led by the specification and past papers so that we're covering exactly what the student needs to know.
I don't set homework after sessions, unless the student asks, but I do provide resources such as past paper breakdowns into individual units to help support students' learning outside of lessons.
