About Emily
I am a Biology major on a pre-med track and have sustained straight A's in all of my biology courses in college and high school. My senior year I received a 5 on the AP biology test and tutored my peers and helped raise their grades from D's to B+'s and A's. This past semester in college I took honors biology and received A's both semesters. Additionally, I work in a biological research lab which allows me to have a deeper understanding of biology concepts.
Besides biology, I am an avid runner and biker and recently into yoga. I was a competitive cheerleader my whole life but a relentless knee injury has forced me to explore new mediums of exercise, so I am also good for knee physical therapy tips and exercise advice. When I have the extra free time, I often read and am currently in the middle of the Game of Thrones series (and desperately trying to avoid spoilers).
I am outgoing and energetic and would be more than excited to help tutor you or your student in biology! I am willing to travel for lesson, but would prefer if we could be at a local coffee shop or library!

My teaching method is explaining concepts slowly and in general, terms to build a foundation understanding. Once the basic understanding of a concept has been built I add in the biological jargon and complex ideas so that the concept is understood in full. I have found this method to be extremely effective in the past with my peers and students I have tutored. I also present a student with multiple ways of explaining the same idea so that there are many opportunities for the student to understand a concept and create a more well-rounded understanding.
