Ph.D. in biomathematics, M.Sc. in physics, 30 years experience teaching from grade school to graduate school.

Methodology

I am more concerned that my students *understand* what they are doing than that they be able to calculate and derive a correct number. I stress understanding in my teaching, and find that the rest inevitably follows. In the long run, this is both the quicker way to learn the material and the way which results in the greater retention of the material learned.

Background

I am a Ph.D. in biomathematics from UCLA with a M.Sc. in physics form the University of Alberta who has been teaching for thirty years. I have taught every level from high school outreach programs in physics to graduate level courses in mathematical physics. I have taught at the University of Alberta, USC, UCLA, UC Davis, Touro University - California, and the California State University Maritime Academy.
