About Maya
I am a biomedical engineering student. I have spent the past 2 years formally tutoring subjects including all levels of math (through calculus and statistics) and other related subjects, including chemistry, biology and physics. Informally, I have volunteered as a peer tutor and been a Peer Teacher for the past 6 years.

I have two main parts to my teaching style- independence of the student and unconditional positive regard. The first part involved encouraging the student to try to solve problems themselves, encouraging them to practice as though I weren't there to help them. This helps build students confidence when they realize how much they know. The unconditional positive regard aspect just means being a positive and supportive person, making students feel supported enough that if they make a mistake they will be alright.
