About Emily
Hello! I'm a PhD student in biomedical science currently working on breast cancer research. I have a Master's degree in molecular and cellular biology which was also focused on cancer (ovarian). I'm from the USA originally but now living in the UK. Back in the states I was a graduate teaching assistant for multiple courses in subjects such as health counseling, nutrition across the lifespan, and medical terminology. I've also taught after school science courses to elementary age children and volunteered to do science outreach speaking with kids in summer camps. I have a wide variety of teaching experiences including helping with administration of an online course for < 200 students.

I would describe myself as an enthusiastic tutor -- I've found that my own best learning experiences were with teachers who were excited about the subject and eager to help and this is the style I strive for. As I'm a PhD student myself I think I'm especially attuned to learning needs and am always working to improve the ways I can help other students. I am open to teaching at all levels but find that my knowledge/expertise is usually the most valuable to undergraduates in biology/science/research courses.
