About Emily

I'm a sophomore studying Biomedical Sciences at the University of Central Florida. I've had a keen interest in mathematics and chemistry since an early age. The creative and dedicated approach of my middle school teachers, who taught me these subjects, was what led me to find genuine passion and fulfillment in learning and teaching them. My sessions are not just about getting the right answer; moreover, they’re about understanding why it’s right. I focus on long-term academic growth through clear explanations, targeted practice, and encouraging feedback. About the lesson

My teaching approach is customized to each student's needs, depending on their pace and background. I encourage students to follow an active-learning method, where I utilize analogies and real-life examples to help them understand complex concepts easily.

My typical lesson plan begins with a quick warm-up activity to assess students' prior knowledge and identify any gaps. This is followed by targeted strategies to help them correct mistakes and improve their timing. I then introduce the learning objectives for the day and provide a brief overview of the lesson's content.
Next, I deliver a focused lecture on the topic, allowing time for students to ask questions and engage in discussion. We then work through examples and explore real-world applications to solidify understanding. Afterward, students complete self-evaluation questions to reflect on their progress. In the wrap-up session, students are encouraged to share their insights and perspectives on the topic. This leads into a collaborative activity where I guide them in creating a personalized mind map to reinforce comprehension. We conclude by developing structured notes together, which they can use for future review and study.

My plan is intended to be flexible so that students can optimize their time with me according to their pace and prior knowledge. I believe in developing a deep understanding of concepts, especially in subjects like mathematics and chemistry, which heavily rely on building upon prior knowledge. My strengths include being patient and helping break down complex problems into simple solutions, since that's the way I've mastered the topics as well.

I’ve been tutoring peers since middle school and have continued to do so through high school and into college. My experience spans a wide range of subjects, including core academics as well as standardized test preparation for exams such as the SAT, PSAT, and others. Over the years, I’ve helped students improve their confidence, strengthen foundational skills, and develop effective strategies for long-term academic success.
