About Haris

About me:
• Teaching from full A* and ABB experience at GCSE and A-level respectively.
• Currently studying a Biomedical Science degree incorporating key chemical and biological concepts, built from strong foundations in GCSE and A-level knowledge.
• Experienced in multiple teaching situations, from classroom support to individual tutoring sessions, and in established tutoring organisations like Success4All.
• My knowledge is fresher than most tutors who haven't been in a real exam situation themselves for a long time. This means you will get information more relevant to you as a student now, rather than outdated techniques and support from ancient curricula.
• Emphasising excellence can seem overbearing for some, but you can rest assured that I take a friendly approach to teaching; I prize a progressive, easy-going tutor-tutee relationship with all my students.

About the lesson

Key information:
• Teaching AQA GCSE Biology, Chemistry and Edexcel Maths

How I teach:
• Subject specific content and exam technique
• 1-to-1 tutoring is tailored to hone in on exactly what you need help with, identify gaps in knowledge and accelerate exam preparation, building knowledge above and beyond average graders.

What you can expect:
• Lessons involve highlighting areas of weakness by attempting official past paper questions as well as other exam-specific resources.
• By allowing the student to walk me through their thought process in answering a question, we work to improve their system of methodology when tackling various questions; from simple to complex.
• Exams make the skills needed for some questions elusive: they are designed to weed-out the average graders from those at the top with more difficult wording and application situations.
• This is where exam technique directly addresses this often under-focused aspect of questioning. By providing real-life, tried and tested methodology, students will not only know what they need to learn, but also when and where to apply it, making exam questions turn from riddles to instructions.
• Although exam practice is crucial, I can also help with content covered in school that doesn't make sense, ranging from specific homework help to "something my teacher said", as this forms a large part of the subject content that supplements exam technique.

What I expect:
• Learning involves both the tutor and the tutee. I look out for students that reciprocate the attention I give them, because learning is a two-way process: you will excel with engagement.
