About Mahalakshmi
Hey!
I'm Mahalakshmi- a biotechnology undergrad (I'm a distinction student!) with a flair for breaking down concepts to the fundamental level.
Throughout my academic journey in biology, I've tinkered with different methods to learn the subject-starting with plain old rote learning, mind maps and sketches, to annotating my high school textbook- I've experimented enough to find out where to troubleshoot the results XD
I'm also very fond of explaining concepts to my friends and juniors engagingly and lucidly- and depending on who I'm teaching, the responses to my explanations range from "whoa! easy peezy lemon squeezy" to "okay...so that's all that was??"
That's what motivated me to look towards disseminating my knowledge- if I can encourage young minds to be as enthusiastic about the subject as I, there's no greater feeling :)

Life Science is NOT boring! And neither is it pure rote learning.
One of the biggest roadblocks I've observed in students (and my own peers in school) is that biology is often viewed as a highly theoretical, difficult-to-assimilate subject- and hence unfairly complex. The first thing I'd do as a tutor is attack that aversion first- when you view biology in a systems and components manner rather than a scary, intimidating whole- it clicks!
I encourage students to get creative with their learning- draw diagrams, make little notes, use colors, mind maps- anything that makes one feel better connected to the subject. Every mind is unique- and I prefer to follow a tailored approach while explaining concepts rather than using a one-talk-fits-all model.
No matter whether you're a grade three student or a biology undergrad- I offer not just classes- but a proper, immersive experience in biology that will not only help one understand concepts well, but also encourage scientific thinking.
