My teaching method has always been about critical understanding. I find that teaching memorization is a poor way to teach, not just because students don't truly understand the subject, but it leaves other students behind. The best way is to build a house of knowledge from the foundation up, building knowledge on top of prior knowledge. My goal is to have every student at least where they need to be, and give instruction in a way that allows students who want to push ahead to do so, while still always assisting those who might be lagging behind.
I am an honors student at Virginia Tech University. I started tutoring fellow high school students as a Sophomore in High School and have continued to do so for the past 4 years. I also work with the Coalition for Refugee Resettlement in Roanoke, assisting recent refugees in their coursework across all schooling levels.
