Personalizing my instruction means observing your current posture and tension levels immediately. I keep my guidance plain and direct during our time together. We spend time on your specific technical needs through structured exercises.
I provide free bowing and posture reference notes after each lesson to keep you on track. This ensures you maintain the correct form while practicing at home. My background as a Canadian Opera Company chorister informs how I teach melody and phrasing. Expect a gentle and steady pace throughout our time together.

Teaching violin feels most natural when I approach it as a craft rather than a performance. I often find that the most talented players struggle with the basic mechanics of their instrument. My 13 years of teaching allow me to identify technical gaps in adult learners and advanced students quickly. Having earned a BMus from the UBC School of Music, I emphasize the fundamental rigor of violin study.
I guide self-taught players toward better structure and help grade exam candidates prepare with confidence. My focus remains on clear shifts in position, consistent vibrato, and perfect intonation. I prioritize scales and arpeggios as the backbone of daily practice routines.
Intermediate students often benefit from my direct approach to spiccato and staccato bowing patterns. Helping you refine your technique is the priority that guides my practice.
