About Arya
Studying at the Curtis Institute of Music shaped my artistic discipline over the last 9 years of teaching students ranging from casual adult learners to those prepping for collegiate auditions. I recall sitting at the piano realizing that technical facility is merely a matter of how we physically relate to the keyboard.
My approach emphasizes sight transposition, scales and arpeggios, plus ear training to ensure that musical intuition is backed by solid theory. These sessions prioritize developing dynamics and expression that breathe life into pop and contemporary arrangements. Rebuilding a student's finger independence and hand shape often requires a total reset, which I find deeply satisfying as a teacher. I am genuinely curious about how different minds process music, and I find that the most growth happens when we slow down to truly listen to ourselves.

Do you ever wonder why your fingers feel sluggish when trying to play a favorite song? Achieving technical fluency requires a shift in how you sit, move, and listen during your practice time at home. Lessons focus on the mechanical foundations of posture, ensuring that your body supports your musical intentions rather than working against them. You will find that I often create custom sheet music arrangements for songs you choose, which keeps the technical work grounded in music you enjoy.
We spend 10 minutes or more per session addressing these mechanics because bad habits are stubborn things to unwind. By refining your approach to the instrument, you gain the freedom to express yourself with clarity. I look forward to seeing the music you want to play take shape through this rigorous, careful process.
