About Layne
I am a board-certified music therapist (MT-BC) who graduated with a music degree from Eastern Michigan University in 2016. There, I learned how music affects the brain in incredible ways. Leveraging that knowledge and my experience working with a variety of clientele, I now specialize in teaching students with specific learning needs and goals.
I have taught over 100 students in the past 5 years working at a professional music learning studio and am now offering private lessons at home. I am excited to continue working with various types of students, ranging from neurodivergent toddlers to typically learning adults.

My lessons are flexible, fun, and suited to my students' learning styles, development ability, and goals for learning. We'll use a variety of material including the music students want to play.
In 30 minutes, we'll spend time working on proper technique, understanding theory, incorporating ear training and sightreading. Using games, challenges and incentives, music learning is fun even for the early beginner.
Piano learning is not just about the product, but about the process, and throughout my varied experiences professionally using music as a tool for learning, healing, and growing, I've learned how to make that process fulfilling for students of all levels and abilities.
