About Rachel

I'm a lifelong learner who loves diving into the world's complexity through a variety of modes and genres, both literary and scientific. I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, a minor in Religious Studies, and a Master's in Social Work (MSW degree). With this varied background, I have extensive experience in academic writing in the social sciences as well as the humanities. In my professional life, I served for two years full-time as a college and career advisor at a high school in North Carolina. In this role, I helped 11th and 12th grade students finalize dozens of college admissions essays, résumés, and job applications. Thus, I have plenty of essay and résumé tips to share! Also, I love probing the layers of meaning in texts and finding insights because I'm a nerd! If you would like to better appreciate the books you read, let's work together!

About the lesson

I love hosting interactive and individualized lessons suited to each student's needs and interests. If you are looking to strengthen your English reading, writing, and editing skills, I'd love to work with you. Lessons are geared primarily towards those in 5th-12th grade, and anyone is welcome to join. Let me help you deepen your love of reading and discover your own voice through your writing style.
