About Myla
Hello! My name is Myla, and I am a full-time Biomedical Engineering student at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) with a passion for helping students reach their full academic potential.
I understand that every learner is different, which is why I adapt my teaching style to suit each student's individual needs, learning pace, and goals. Whether you're struggling with a difficult topic, preparing for an important test, or aiming for top marks, I provide patient, personalised guidance that builds both understanding and confidence.
I tutor Mathematics, English, Natural Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Chemistry for primary and high school students. My lessons are engaging, structured, and focused on helping students truly understand concepts instead of simply memorising them. I also teach effective study techniques, problem-solving strategies, and exam preparation skills that students can use long after our lessons.
As a current university student, I know first-hand the challenges that come with academic pressure and demanding coursework. I have developed effective learning strategies that have helped me succeed, and I enjoy sharing these techniques with my students to help them become more confident and independent learners.
I strive to create a positive, supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and celebrating their progress. My goal is not only to improve academic performance but also to inspire a genuine love for learning.

I believe that every student learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to suit the individual's learning style, pace, and goals. My teaching focuses on building a strong understanding of concepts rather than simply memorising information. I create a supportive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, because that's where real learning happens. My goal is not only to improve marks but also to help students gain confidence and become independent learners.
I am proficient in English and conduct all lessons in English. I also have experience teaching English as a second language to international students, using clear explanations, visual aids, and interactive activities to make learning enjoyable and effective.
A typical lesson begins with a short review of previous work to reinforce understanding. We then work through new concepts step by step using explanations, examples, guided practice, and questions to check understanding. Students receive plenty of opportunities to solve problems independently, and I provide constructive feedback throughout the lesson. Where appropriate, I include exam-style questions, revision strategies, and study techniques to help students perform their best in assessments.
My lessons are suitable for primary and high school students. I tutor Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Physical Sciences, and Chemistry for Grades 3–12, with additional support for Physics and Chemistry at higher levels. Whether a student needs help catching up, preparing for exams, improving confidence, or aiming for top marks, lessons are personalised to meet their specific needs and academic goals.
