About Gustavo
My name is Gustavo Barrera, I was born in Mexico, I have always been in touch with tutoring and teaching as my mum has been doing this profession for over 30 years. For me teaching Spanish is more than teaching the language is showing the culture and folklore of all that comes with the language, teaching Spanish is a passion for as I feel I can show what the language means for my culture and people and being able to share this with other people gives me satisfaction.

For me learning a language is more than knowing the grammar and structure of it although it’s important my main objective is for you to be able to communicate confidently in the language in any way you want or need. I plan on mixing the grammar, the vocabulary, the writing, the reading and the listening for your experience to be complete and for you to have an ability in all the branches of the language. Lessons will focus in this main 5 branches, or with one in specific if you just want to improve on that aspect, lessons will include tutoring, excercises and suggestions for a daily use of the language and therefore and improvement on it on a daily basis. My main objective in the lessons is to make them dynamic for a real learning and avoid making the learning tedious and boring in where you find yourself repeating and not enjoying the process. Lessons last from 50 minutes to 2 hours and can be from 1 to 2 times a week depending on the need of the student. Lessons consist on a video call and they do include the suggestion of homework that goes from written excersices to more dynamic ones such as listening to music or watching audiovisual content. Although I am still in college, I have been in touch with tutoring from my whole life being the son of a language teacher this has helped me to understand both the teaching techinques and how to transmit the language to another person. Finally lessons are for all public from students looking to perform a certification exam to somebody willing to learn the language for a vacation purpose, I am able to adapt the lessons and tutoring for all ages.
