I base my classes on fun experiences. Before planning any lesson, I like to chat with my student to know his/her interests, goals and previous knowledge. Then, after that, the lessons are planned. I like to start my classes with a game/ice breaker, then after that reading and comprehension activities, a little bit of grammar, then a conclusion. I truly belive that learning a new language can be fun and relaxing.
I am an ESL teacher for kids since 2018; I had more than 100 students last year. I've been mentoring adults since 2015, after spending 18 months studying in the USA. In the other hand, teaching Portuguese is a new experience for me.

Main accomplishments in 2019:
- Grade 4: intercultural exchange program between Prudente de Moraes Elementary School, East Columbus Elementary School, and the Center of Latin American Studies at Ohio State University. Grade 4 students from both schools had one Skype session to share questions and studies about water usage.
Main accomplishments in 2018:
- Grade 2: science classes opened students’ curiosity regards physics and science history. At the end of the year, students performed a short play about Isaac Newton biography.
- Grade 7: students learned about society and care when they got involved in social projects for Family and Consumers Science classes. The first project about foster homes was developed and executed in May-June/2018. The students had the chance to listen and learn about the fostering process. The main goal of this project was to engage students to care about people. In the end, they learned about family, social engagement importance and vocabulary (both in Portuguese and English). The second project was “The Memory Project”. We sent to Syrian children some re-painted portraits as gifts. Through this project, students learned about the Syrian war and other conflicts worldwide.
Also, this group of students presented a restaurant in the Science Fair. They were challenged to build a menu based on chemical and physical changes, to prepare and serve the food for the customer. Both students and parents had a great time learning about food, chemical and physical changes, job responsibilities, care, and customer experiences.
