About CAI

Hi! I'm Stephanie, a multilingual language educator teaching Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, and English as a Second Language (ESL) to both children and adults. I grew up in southern China, spent six years studying in the US, and am now based in Canada, so I know firsthand what it's like to learn a language and adapt to a new culture.

As a former Berlitz language instructor, I have delivered more than 3000 hours of language training to children, students, and professionals, including learners from organizations such as Goldman Sachs, Jane Street, and the U.S. Embassy.

I teach languages for real life, from helping children discover their first words in a new language to helping professionals communicate confidently across cultures. With children, I often teach through stories and play; with adults, I build lessons around daily and family conversations, workplace situations, or topics they're interested in.

My lessons draw on communicative and immersion-based teaching methods and can incorporate HSK materials, role-play, real-life scenarios, pronunciation training, and personalized learning resources, depending on your goals.

My background also extends beyond language teaching. With experience in financial planning and an academic background in philosophy, I can take conversation practice from everyday topics to richer, more substantive discussions. Advanced learners can build vocabulary and fluency by exploring business, personal finance, philosophy, culture, society, and professional life, while learning to express complex ideas naturally and confidently.

Whether you're learning Mandarin, Cantonese, or English for school, travel, daily life, or work, each lesson is tailored to your level, interests, and learning style.

From first words to professional conversations, my goal is to help you use the language confidently in the real world.

About the lesson

Whether you're a trade or finance professional or a language enthusiast captivated by Cantonese culture and cuisine, my lessons are thoughtfully structured to meet your needs. Together, we'll explore everything from speaking and reading to mastering idioms and perfecting pronunciation, all enriched with intriguing cultural and historical insights. Each session blends practical skills with engaging content, carefully tailored to your learning goals—whether you’re just starting or advancing your skills.

For Beginners: Start with the essentials—about ten characters per class. You'll quickly read simple sentences without feeling overwhelmed. By lesson 10, you'll tackle short Chengyu (proverb) stories. Yes, drills are necessary, but pop quizzes and fun homework keep it engaging and effective.

After 20 Lessons: You'll know a few hundred characters and handle basic conversations. Practice everyday scenarios, like ordering food or giving directions, to build confidence and real-world skills.

Advanced Learners: Expect interactive discussions, grammar finesse, and pronunciation tweaks. Explore topics like stories, news, or movie clips, making language alive and authentic. Mistakes? Bring them on—they're key to growth.

I focus on fostering independence so you can continue learning beyond our sessions. Drawing from my multilingual background (Cantonese, English, French), I create connections across languages to enhance your journey.
