About Tom
As a flute tutor with more than 9 years of experience, I am passionate about guiding students towards musical excellence. I teach school students, college learners, and working professionals who wish to learn flute professionally or as a hobby.
My approach is student-centred and practical. I focus on correct posture, breath management, tone quality, finger coordination, and rhythm control. I ensure students understand each lesson clearly before progressing. In addition, I teach music theory, scale formation, ear training, and improvisation techniques to support creative growth.
I provide structured lesson plans and regular assessments to track improvement. My special strength is building performance confidence and stage presence. I believe music education should build discipline, creativity, and self-expression.

My flute teaching philosophy focuses on consistent improvement through Adaptation to Learning Styles, Flexibility, Collaboration, and Positivity. I emphasise technical clarity by guiding students through breath management exercises, tone production drills, proper embouchure positioning, and coordinated finger techniques.
Structured scale practice and articulation training strengthen precision and control. I adapt explanations and demonstrations based on each student’s learning preference, ensuring concepts are clearly understood.
Flexibility enables me to modify lesson structure and repertoire to align with individual goals and interests. Collaboration ensures students take an active role in tracking their progress and refining their technique.
Positivity fosters motivation and resilience, creating a safe space for growth. Beyond flute instruction, I teach rhythm counting methods, sight-reading, ear training, and basic music theory to enhance overall musical understanding.
