About Erik
I’m a dedicated educator with over six years of classroom experience and more than twenty years of writing and research expertise. I hold a Bachelor’s in Philosophy and a Master’s in Theological Studies, both rooted in the classical liberal arts tradition. I’ve taught writing, literature, history, and philosophy at various levels, and I love helping students grow in clarity, confidence, and critical thinking. Whether you're looking to sharpen your essays, deepen your understanding of the humanities, or prepare for college-level work, I'm here to guide you with patience, insight, and proven strategies. Professionalism and encouragement go hand in hand in my teaching style—I take your goals seriously and tailor each session to meet your unique needs.

Teaching Method & Techniques
I teach through guided discussion, storytelling, and Socratic questioning—helping students not just memorize facts, but understand how ideas connect and shape the world. My lessons are structured to promote curiosity, clarity, and confidence, using timelines, primary sources, maps, and big questions to make each topic come alive.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Each session begins with a brief review and a framing question for the day. We then explore key content through explanation, guided reading or visuals, and discussion. The final portion focuses on application—through writing prompts, quiz review, or targeted exercises based on the student’s goals. Follow-up resources or practice assignments are available upon request.
What Sets Me Apart
I bring over two decades of humanities study and six years of classroom teaching in classical academies. I combine academic depth with real teaching experience, ensuring students get both accurate content and engaging delivery. I don’t just teach subjects—I help students form connections, sharpen their reasoning, and develop a lifelong love for learning.
Who the Lessons Are For
I work with middle and high school students, homeschoolers, and college freshmen who want support in the humanities. Whether you're preparing for exams, writing essays, catching up, or just exploring ideas, I tailor lessons to your academic level and learning goals.
