• Você fala fluentemente esta língua por causa de suas origens ou porque um professor te motivou a aprendê-la?

  English is my mother tongue. My father is British and my mother is Brazilian, but it was chosen that English would be the main language spoken in the house when I was a child.

• Cite uma pessoa (da atualidade, histórica ou fictícia) que, na sua opinião, representa bem a cultura da língua que você ensina.

  For me the actor, writer, and comedian Stephen Fry is a quintessential British man: As well as being an excellent classical actor both on the stage and in cinema, he also represents perfectly the British dry and ironic sense of humour. If you have ever seen the BBC comedy series “Black Adder” you would know what I mean.
  
  For English learners Stephen Fry’s British pronunciation has almost a perfect “BBC accent” so I often use some of his recording in my lessons.

• Existe alguma palavra, expressão ou tradição típica que você goste particularmente? 

  I love language “idioms” in general. It is also hilarious to hear idioms in other languages.
  
  It is important to learn idioms as they are often used in modern language, and if you do not know their meaning you can often be left scratching you head in puzzlement.

• Por qual motivo aprender esta língua é importante (seja no âmbito escolar, profissional ou pessoal)?

  I am lucky enough to have the English language as my mother tongue as it is essential in today’s international business world and for general travel. Most of my students wish to improve their English language skills for these two main purposes.

• Qual a maior dificuldade no aprendizado desta língua e o como contornar este obstáculo? 

  Although, the English language is relatively easier to learn than almost nearly all other languages, it is still not easy to learn. The main difficulty my students have is going from an intermediate level to an advanced fluent level. The main secret is to have as much exposure and practice to the language as possible. Luckily, with the internet and streaming services like Netflix and Spotify it is much easier to have exposure to English than ever before.

• Você poderia compartilhar alguma história e/ou curiosidade engraçada relacionada à sua profissão ou as aulas particulares?

  I have a lot of fun with my students in general. Brazilians have a great sense of humour so even though my students come from a wide background from Lawyers, Doctors, Investment bankers, or students they are all a pleasure to teach and spend time with.

• Nos ajude a te conhecer melhor, nos conte um pouco sobre suas viagens, amizades completamente nativa da língua que você leciona entre outros! 😍

  As well as having a British father and Brazilian mother that already exposed me to two languages and cultures, I also lived in many countries as a child due to my father being a British diplomat. After University where I studied Economics, I started working and continued working for 25 years for Multinational companies that allowed me also to live and work in different countries. On top of this I have a passion for travel. As a consequence of these factors I have lived in Uruguay (where I was born), Russia, Spain, England, Australia, Brazil, France, and Belgium, and travelled in many more countries. I am also able to speak English, Portuguese, French and Spanish.

• O que faz de você um Superprof (além do poder de se comunicar em várias línguas 😉) ?

  Having learnt different languages myself certainly helps to understand the difficulties that students can have learning English, so I am very sensitive and understanding to these difficulties and learning constraints. I also do my best to make my lessons as entertaining as possible – we tend to learn better when we are having fun. Lastly, the material and learning platform I use is very interactive and provides excellent learning content. Most of my lessons you will learn a bit of grammar, some additional vocabulary, practice speaking, practice listening, practice pronunciation. Why focus on one thing only during the class?
