About Adam
Hi! I'm Adam Abdalla. I run an independent private tutoring business called Brooklyn STEM Support based in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn.
I earned a B.A. in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley in 2023 with a 3.933 GPA. While in high school, I achieved a 4.0 GPA, scored 5s on 16 AP exams, and achieved a score of 1580 on the SAT exam (800 Math, 780 Reading and Writing). I began tutoring as a peer volunteer in 2015.
I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and skills with the next generation to help them build a brighter and more equitable future.

My lessons are primarily for high school (AP CS A or AP CS Principles) and introductory college courses.
I understand that programming can be intimidating for many students. My approach uses empathy, encouragement, and appropriate challenge to create a safe space for students to be curious and make mistakes without shame or judgment.
Every student is unique, and tutoring must reflect that to be effective. I work to identify the concepts a student already has mastered and focus on those that need extra support.
I use evidence-based strategies and structures proven to improve understanding and retention. A typical session starts with a short review of previous material and a warmup, focusing on foundational concepts that build to the session's main topic. Next, I teach the main topic while gauging understanding using example problems and open-ended questions. We then move to guided practice; I gradually step back to let the student work independently, addressing any misunderstandings and highlighting success. Finally, I reiterate key points and recommend concepts for independent study.
