About Sharmina
My name is Sharmina. I have been tutoring for a long time and am now a teacher. I have taught so many different and unique children. One of the things that makes me enjoy my job is when I see a student's love of learning and their ability to apply their learning outside the classroom.
When I was a student, I used to have a tutor. Having a one to one tutor was very beneficial as they were able to understand the way I learn and used this knowledge to plan their lessons. This was great for my grades as they improved massively. Having experienced this directly is why I want to help other students flourish and reach their full potential.

I have been tutoring for the last five years and am now currently working as a class teacher.
My lessons are catered for children between the ages of 5-11. Of course, lessons are adapted to each child and their ability.
I have been observed many times when teaching by head teachers, mentors, class teachers etc. I have multiple evidence to show that my lessons are engaging and run smoothly. In addition, I have received great comments on my ability to scaffold learning for students.
I like to use visual aids when teaching especially especially students struggle to access learning. I also do, 'my turn, your turn.' This is where I model how I would answer a question, and then give the student a chance to try for themselves. I use this opportunity to assess their learning and address any misconceptions by scaffolding the learning in a different way. After this, I encourage the students to help me answer the questions together by asking them questions and making sure they use key vocabularies when giving reasons for their explanation. This would improve language and communication skills.
I don't believe that once a child has mastered the topic that it should not be revisited. This is why, my lessons always begin with a short starter where previous learning is assessed before we begin the new topic.
I also like to create tests for my students and adapt it in a way they would experience in schools.
