About Robert
My Industry experience is what led me into teaching Uniformed Public/Protective Services. Since starting teaching in 2011 I have achieved a level 5 teaching qualification, Qualified Teacher Status and various other assessing qualifications that support my work within Further Education.
My academic background is in History and Archaeology which fits surprisingly well with the Public Services curriculum. My specialist subjects are Government and the Protective Services, Citizenship, Behavior and Discipline and Global Affairs. History is my main passion especially military history studying war and conflict across the 20th Century.
As a college lecturer I am graded as an outstanding teacher, receiving regular positive feedback on my lessons. I was nominated and awarded Bronze at the national BTEC awards for tutor of the year in 2019. In three successive years students of mine have been awarded gold at the BTEC student of the year awards also. I have an excellent success rate with many of my students leaving college to go directly into industry whether this be in the Police, Army, Royal Navy or NHS.
I am familiar with all levels of Public Services from level 1 to level 3 and the HNC/HND programmes. With the recent introduction of examinations to the level 2 and level 3 courses my students have achieved excellent exam results under my tutelage.

I approach each unit and topic according to the needs of each student and their goals, this may be expanding knowledge of a particular subject, help with assignment work or revision for exams.
As an experienced lecturer I know that everyone learns differently, there is not one single approach to teaching and learning. If you simply wish to study towards an examination or achieve higher grades in your coursework I can help you.
The first session for any student will be an introduction, I like to get to know the student, find out what point they are at with their studies and gain an understanding of their working methods. Talking about an assignment or unit being studied is the best way to ascertain your requirements and assess where I can help you the most. With this information I can devise an appropriate action plan that will help you to achieve your aims/goals. Sessions typically last up to one hour.
I am experienced Public Services/Uniformed Protective Services lecturer with industry experience. A graduate of the University of Leicester, I hold a level 5 teaching qualification and Qualified Teacher Status. I have also studied at undergraduate level at the University of Oxford gaining qualifications in both History and Archaeology. Prior to teaching I served in the Armed Forces.
My sessions are for those studying BTEC level 1 - 3 in Public Services or Uniformed Protective Services. I can also assist with those studying on HNC and HND courses.
