About Daniel
I’m a PGCE-trained Secondary History teacher with experience teaching students from Key Stage 3 through to A-Level.
I’m passionate about helping students become more confident historians, particularly when it comes to the parts of the subject they often find most difficult, such as essay writing, source analysis and exam technique.
I have taught a wide range of topics, including Nazi Germany, Medicine Through Time, Crime and Punishment, Conflict and Tension, the British Empire, medieval and early modern history, and twentieth-century Russia. I also have experience supporting students with different abilities and learning needs, so I am used to adapting explanations and activities to suit the individual.
My approach is calm, supportive and structured. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, while also helping them become more independent and confident in their own ability.
Whether a student is aiming to improve a grade, prepare for mocks or final exams, strengthen their essay writing, or simply get a better understanding of the subject, I tailor tuition around what they need most.

My lessons are tailored to the individual student and designed to build both historical knowledge and confidence with exam technique.
I usually begin by identifying what the student already knows and where the main gaps are. From there, lessons can focus on revising a specific topic, developing essay-writing skills, improving source or interpretation questions, or working through past-paper questions together.
I use a clear step-by-step approach, including modelling strong answers, guided practice and targeted questioning. Rather than simply telling students what to write, I help them understand why an answer gains marks and how they can apply that approach independently in future.
For GCSE and A-Level students, I place particular emphasis on exam technique, including planning extended answers, using evidence effectively, analysing sources and interpretations, and responding directly to the wording of the question.
Lessons are supportive and interactive, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions, practise skills and receive immediate feedback. Each session is adapted to the student’s exam board, current topics and individual goals, whether that is improving a grade, preparing for mocks or final exams, or simply becoming more confident in History.
