About Ava

I am Ava and I graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, where I developed a strong interest in mathematical modeling, statistics, and applied problem-solving! I have 9 years of tutoring experience with K-12 learners and early College students from different academic backgrounds! During university, I worked on mathematical modeling projects that involved using equations to represent real-world situations, which greatly influenced the practical teaching style I use today! I have helped students move from avoiding difficult mathematics problems to confidently explaining their own solutions during class and examinations! I have also mentored younger students through mathematics enrichment activities and guided advanced learners through challenging algebra, geometry, and calculus topics! My favorite part of tutoring is seeing a student recognize a pattern independently for the first time! I believe strong mathematics education should develop patience, logical thinking, accuracy, and curiosity rather than encourage students to memorize procedures without understanding them!

About the lesson

I teach Math to K-12 students by making numbers, patterns, and problem-solving feel practical rather than intimidating! My lessons are suitable for Junior School, Middle School, High School, and beginning College learners who need stronger foundations, better classroom performance, or focused exam preparation! I begin by identifying exactly where a student feels stuck and then create a personalized learning plan around their school curriculum, learning speed, and academic goals! My sessions cover arithmetic, fractions, decimals, percentages, pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, functions, statistics, and introductory calculus! I bring mathematics into everyday situations through examples involving shopping budgets, sports statistics, travel distances, building measurements, cooking ratios, and personal finance so students can see why mathematical skills matter beyond the classroom! I use interactive whiteboard activities, visual problem maps, mental-math challenges, guided examples, and carefully selected practice questions to keep students actively involved! For High School learners, I provide targeted preparation for school examinations, standardized tests, quizzes, and major mathematics assessments! I also help with homework and assignments by teaching students how to approach questions independently instead of simply giving them solutions! Throughout our work together, I maintain a simple progress record covering completed topics, recurring mistakes, confidence levels, and upcoming goals! I want every student to leave a lesson knowing not only what answer is correct, but also why the method works and how to recognize a similar problem in the future!
