About Charnia
Intonation and shifting positions are often mistaken for mere mechanics instead of musical choices. I ground my approach in 6 years of experience working with students who range from curious beginners to seasoned classical players. My degree from Belmont University serves as a foundation for teaching complex skills like spiccato and double stops. Many players struggle with the pressure to be perfect instead of musical.
Learning through listening allows students to absorb the nuance of ornamentation naturally. I have guided 100 learners toward greater comfort with their instruments. It is rewarding to watch a student finally trust their ears over a printed page. I find the process of discovering a player's natural sound truly joyful.

Oral tradition forms the core of how I structure our time spent together. I keep things direct by starting with listening before we pick up the bow. Lessons focus on orchestral playing and scales to build confidence for teen or adult students.
My 6 years of experience inform how I simplify complex bowing technique and posture. I provide free bowing and posture reference notes after each lesson to keep you on track.
This support helps self-taught players find the structure they often miss. I enjoy seeing students connect their classical training to the freedom of folk melodies. Understanding the mechanics behind a piece makes the music feel much more accessible.
