About the lesson

My Teaching Approach
I believe math fundamentals matter more than ever in an age of AI and calculators. While technology can solve most problems instantly, students need to understand how math works to know when those answers make sense - and when they don't.
My Method:
I meet students where they are, working from their current struggles rather than starting over from scratch. We review homework and recent classwork to identify exactly where confusion begins, then build understanding from that point forward. I use multiple approaches to explain concepts because every student thinks differently - what clicks for one person might not work for another.
My focus is on algorithmic understanding: not just "plug and chug," but genuinely grasping the logic behind solving problems. This means students learn to check their own work, spot errors, and build confidence in their mathematical reasoning.
A Typical Session:

Review recent homework/classwork and identify sticking points (10-15 min)
Work through problem areas using step-by-step explanations and multiple methods (20-30 min)
Guided practice where the student takes the lead while I provide support (15-20 min)
Preview upcoming material or reinforce foundations as needed
