About Richard
I am a dedicated and engaging Business and Economics tutor who takes genuine pride in helping students grow in confidence, deepen their understanding and enjoy the subject. My approach is calm, supportive and highly personalised, ensuring every learner feels valued, capable and motivated to achieve their best.
With teaching experience at Hills Road Sixth Form College in Cambridge—one of the UK’s highest-ranked colleges—alongside over a decade lecturing at the University of East Anglia and further teaching at the London College of Contemporary Arts, I bring both academic credibility and real-world insight to every lesson. Students can trust that they are learning with someone who understands the subject in depth and knows how to make complex ideas clear, accessible and engaging.
I believe that great teaching is about more than delivering content; it’s about building belief. I work hard to create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, exploring new ideas and pushing themselves further. I take a supportive, engaging and student-centred approach to tutoring, focusing on building confidence, clarity and genuine enjoyment of Business and Economics. My teaching style blends clear explanation, real-world examples and active discussion, helping learners connect theory to practical business situations. I use techniques such as guided questioning, scaffolded tasks and exam-focused practice to make complex ideas accessible and to strengthen long-term understanding.
Typical lessons last 60 minutes, giving enough time to introduce new concepts, work through examples, check understanding and set short follow-up tasks where helpful. I tailor each session to the learner’s needs, learning style and goals—whether improving exam performance, deepening subject knowledge or building confidence.
I bring extensive experience from teaching at Hills Road Sixth Form College, lecturing at the University of East Anglia, and delivering Business programmes at the London College of Contemporary Arts. This background allows me to offer high-quality, academically rigorous support with strong real-world relevance.
