About Elaine

I’m Elaine, a high school junior with experience in both advanced coursework and teaching. I’ve taught math to students in both classroom and individual settings. I tailor each lesson to the student’s specific goals, and I guide students with hints and questions so they discover the solutions themselves, building both confidence and problem-solving skills.

I tutor:
- Single Variable Calculus (AP Calculus AB/BC)
- Multivariable Calculus
- Linear Algebra
- Physics (AP Physics C, Mechanics, Electricity & Magnetism, Waves & Optics, Thermodynamics)

About the lesson

I explain concepts step by step, starting from intuition before moving into formal definitions and problem solving. I like using examples from past exams, contests, classes, or real applications so students see why something works. I also check for understanding often, so we don’t just go through the motions.

Typical Lesson Plan
- Quick review of last lesson and goals for the session (5 minutes)
- New topics explained with examples and guided practice where we solve problems together (50 minutes)
- Wrap-up and planning what to focus on next time (5 minutes)
