My approach starts with the big picture — before diving into formulas or procedures, I make sure students understand the why behind what they're learning, then reinforce it through hands-on problem-solving. Having trained at Caltech and now working as a researcher in a stem cell lab at Scripps Research, I bring real scientific thinking into every session, not just textbook knowledge but the way scientists and mathematicians genuinely approach problems.
A typical 60-minute lesson begins with a quick review, moves into guided examples where I model my thought process out loud, then shifts to independent practice while I observe and prompt.
I adapt my style, pacing, and examples to each student, and my real-world research background means I can show exactly where classroom concepts live outside the textbook. I work with middle and high school students in math, biology, and chemistry — whether they need to catch up and rebuild foundations, or want to get ahead and prepare for AP exams.
