About Shrijan

Hi, I'm Shrijan! When I'm not tutoring, I'm a first-year Economics student at the University of Cambridge, so a lot of my life still revolves around lectures, essays, and (occasionally) too much coffee.

Outside of academics, I'm part of Cambridge's cultural societies and the Investment and M&A Society, which keep me busy with everything from events to case competitions. I also play cricket for my college — I'm far more competitive about it than I probably should be — and I'm rarely without a book in my bag. If you ever want recommendations, I'm always happy to talk about what I'm reading rather than what I'm teaching.

I think being a decent tutor is about more than knowing the content — it helps to actually remember what it felt like being a student, stressed about the same exams, not that long ago. So if we work together, expect someone who takes the subject seriously but doesn't take himself too seriously.

About the lesson

I build every lesson around the idea that understanding sticks better than memorising. Rather than working straight through a textbook, I focus on breaking a topic down until a student can explain it back in their own words — because if you can't explain it simply, you don't quite know it yet. I lean heavily on past papers and exam technique alongside content, since I've found that most students lose marks not from not knowing the material, but from not knowing how to apply it under exam conditions. Lessons are interactive rather than me talking at a whiteboard — I ask a lot of questions, get students working through problems live, and adjust on the spot depending on where they're getting stuck.

I've been tutoring since Year 12, so I've had years to refine this approach across Maths and Economics at GCSE and A-Level, including guiding a student from struggling to top grades in GCSE Economics and A-Level Maths. Alongside subject tutoring, I've run mock interviews and helped students secure offers, volunteered at my former Maths tutor's centre supporting struggling students, and worked as a teaching assistant at my local primary school — experience that's taught me how to adapt my teaching style across very different ages and abilities. I'm currently reading Economics at the University of Cambridge, which keeps my own subject knowledge sharp and current.

My lessons are aimed at GCSE and A-Level students in Maths and Economics, whether you're aiming to consolidate a weak topic, push a good grade into a top one, or prepare for interviews and applications alongside your studies.
