About Matas
Currently I am on my 3rd PhD year in Electrical Engineering at UCL, having before completed my Master of Research (MRes) programme in Integrated Photonic and Electronic Systems at University of Cambridge. Prior to that, I studied Materials Science and Engineering at Imperial College London, where I achieved a 1st in Master of Engineering (MEng) degree. In high school I completed IB Diploma programme, achieving 41 out of 45 overall grade, with 7s in Maths HL, Chemistry HL, and Physics SL.
I have started tutoring in high school, where I was organising sessions for students interested in participating in Chemistry Olympiads at a national level. After that, I gained tutoring experience through participating in Schools Plus programme, which involved providing free tuition to children from families which could not afford to hire paid tutors. Since then I have been tutoring privately and have collected over 250 hours of tutoring practice overall.

Usually, the needs of every student are different, for instance, some students have difficulties in understanding the material that is taught in classes, while others might have problems with tackling specific exercises and exam problems. Consequently, I would tailor tutoring sessions based on student’s strengths and weaknesses. Every lesson typically starts with 10 to 15 minutes of revision on what has been done the last time before any new material is introduced. Naturally, any wishes that a student expresses about what they struggle with is taken into account and tackled for as long as needed.
Furthermore, I can provide additional learning material that covers topics beyond the school syllabus, if the student shows desire to learn more about advanced topics, or provide a small amount of homework if the student finds it useful and has the time to complete it!
