Hi! I'm Carmen, a second year engineering student at Cambridge (Selwyn College). I offer online sessions covering your full application to study engineering at Cambridge, Oxford or any other UK university.
I am new to Superprof and would really appreciate some reviews and feedback on my ad, so please take advantage of the half hour free session! There is absolutely no commitment, and 30 minutes of Q&A/feedback/tips can give you so much more confidence and knowledge when applying.
+ All sessions include a Q&A section for specific questions you might want to send me beforehand, and anything that you feel you aren't sure about at the end of the session
+ The breakdown below is a way for me to organise and show you the content I offer in a clear way. However, I am very flexible with both the duration and content of sessions so feel free to mix different topics into a session (just be aware of the suggested timings)
*Sessions offered*:
Personal statement:
- 'From scratch': Complete guide on how to write a successful Personal Statement, what to include, tips, and examples of successful candidates with different approaches and styles [1h]
- Feedback on personal statement, including annotation of your draft before the call: anything important missing, reducing your word count, rephrasing sentences to be more effective, paragraphs etc. (will also include any relevant resources and tips from the 'from scratch' session) [30mins - 1h]
ENGAA (admissions test):
- Overview of the contents, how to approach studying, and many tips about exam technique. [about 45mins depending on detail of example questions & answers]
- Teaching of anything you haven't covered at school
- Going over questions that you had trouble with
Interviews:
- 'From scratch': format, what interviewers want to see in an applicant ("selection criteria"), how to prepare, how to structure an answer and 'think out loud', other advice/tips [1h]
- Mock interviews + immediate feedback afterwards [1h]
- Teaching of common interview questions (e.g. graph sketching and large estimation questions)
Other: [shorter but will depend on how much detail you want]
- How to choose a college and how the college system works (pool, etc.)
- What admissions tutors are looking for in a candidate (their own words)
- The SAQ additional personal statement for Cambridge
- Review of your application (A-level choices and grades, extracurriculars, etc. to look for any areas that are lacking, with suggestions on how to improve on them)
- What activities you could do in yr12/start of yr13 to improve your application
- How teaching at Cambridge works (lectures, supervisions, labs, exams), what the workload is like, typical week
- How the engineering course is structured
- What parts of the Oxbridge application are more important and which are the least important (from admissions tutors)
- Any other questions you might have

Details
Discounted rates for state school students. Contact me to discuss this based on your situation.
I can also give group sessions usually at the same price so if you know other people who might want to join this can make lessons much more affordable!
(This does not apply to Personal Statement feedback and mock interviews for obvious reasons)
I usually don't offer lesson packs (especially during term) as my degree does not leave me with a lot of free time, and anything lower than my current rate is just not worth it for me. I believe that my (undiscounted) rates are fair to both parties, considering that many lessons require prep time, and that other websites/people will typically ask for signifiantly more money for similar tutoring.
