About Ben

I am a PhD student in theoretical quantum physics at the University of Cambridge. As part of the admissions team for Physical Natural Sciences at Gonville & Caius College, I have conducted interviews and helped to decide which applicants received offers. I can offer comprehensive support for students applying to Oxbridge, including mock interviews, admissions test preparation, personal statement feedback, and targeted teaching on topics that commonly arise in interviews. My first-hand experience of the admissions process - both as a successful applicant and an interviewer - enables me to provide detailed, practical guidance on how the admissions process works and developing the skills that distinguish successful candidates

Alongside my admissions experience, I ranked in the top 10 of my year during both my BA and MSci in Natural Sciences at Cambridge. Before university, I represented the UK at the 2020 European Physics Olympiad, where I earned a bronze medal and placed 3rd among the UK team members. I have over five years of tutoring experience across physics, chemistry, mathematics, and related sciences. I currently teach Cambridge undergraduates as a supervisor in physics and mathematics, helping students develop both technical understanding and problem-solving skills.

My aim is not simply to help students learn content, but to develop the style of thinking, curiosity, and problem-solving ability that top universities are looking for.

About the lesson

When learning, there is no one-size-fits-all formula, so I tailor my lessons uniquely to the needs and aims of each student. Whether it's through deep-dives on fundamental concepts, focussed practice of exam questions, or exploring concepts beyond the limits of the syllabus, together we'll work the way that is best for you.

My lessons are always highly interactive - I'll guide you to work the answers out for yourself, so that you'll build genuine understanding. Each lesson focusses on a single topic, to ensure depth, thoroughness, and lasting benefit.
