About Lola
I am a Belgian-Italian PhD student working on galaxy formation at the University of Cambridge. I attended the Lycée Français de San Francisco, where I graduated in the S (science) track with congratulations from the jury (18.5/20). I then obtained a BSc in Physics at the Swiss Federal Technology Institute of Lausanne (EPFL), and continued with a MSc in Astrophysics at the University of Cambridge, where I am now doing a PhD. I have been a teaching assistant during all of my years in university, and have always loved sharing my knowledge and helping others succeed. In my own studies, I have always been a methodology driven student and I believe that sharing the right techniques and problem-solving approaches can really make an impact on the success of students. I received a lot of positive feedback from students that I taught, which was very rewarding and made me want to continue teaching.

I provide lessons in mathematics and physics for students up to A-levels, and I personally attended the Lycée Français de San Francisco (filière S) so I also specialise in teaching classes for other Lycée students up to Baccalauréat level. I have both tutored privately and been a teaching assistant for university courses such as Thermodynamics, Statistical Methods for Data Science, and Relativistic Astrophysics and Cosmology. As a PhD student, I also co-supervise master students that join our group. I tailor my lessons to the student's goals and learning abilities, focusing on not only understanding the material itself but the techniques needed to succeed in the exam they are working towards. I have an active approach to learning, I want the student to practise solving problems and to be able to explain and discuss the course material to make sure they are assimilating the lesson. I prefer to teach 1 hour lessons, as I think this is an optimal length for student to stay focused and be learning. I am however very open to discussing what works best!

Lola's a real smart bean! Not only does she really know her stuff - even at graduate level - but she's incredibly patient and supportive. She's helped me with everything from advanced astrophysics to basic coding, without even breaking a sweat ;)
I 100% recommend her to anyone looking for a truly knowledgeable and encouraging tutor in maths, physics, or coding!I’ve known Lola for three years, and during that time, I’ve consistently been impressed by her dedication to teaching. As a teaching assistant at the University of Cambridge, she approaches her role with care and thoughtfulness, always striving to ensure her students get the most out of her classes.
One of the things that stands out about Lola is the depth of her preparation. She takes the time to review and refine marking schemes, even correcting obscure mistakes, to make sure they align with the material and are fair for her students. This level of attention reflects how seriously she takes her responsibility as a teacher and her commitment to helping her students succeed.
I’m confident that Lola will bring the same care and effort to any classes she teaches through Superprof. Her patience, thoroughness, and ability to engage with her students make her an excellent choice as a teacher, and I would highly recommend her.View more recommendations

I am based in Cambridge so weekly lessons would have to take place online, but I come down to London on alternating weekends so I would be more than happy to accommodate in-person classes during those weekends.
