About Andrew
I am a student at the University of Cambridge, St. John’s College, studying Modern and Medieval Languages (French & Spanish.) I am a language enthusiast, which has led me to self-teach Italian to an intermediate level and to have my French supervisor describe me as an ‘enthusiastic’ and ‘particularly hardworking’ student. She described my level of spoken French as ‘particularly fluent and precise,’ thus predicting that I would receive a first in my summer examinations. Additionally, after a lengthy application process based on academic excellence, I am delighted to have been selected as a recipient of a bursary from an anonymous donor, as well as several travel grants. Having received 8 x 9s, 3 x 8s and an A* at G.C.S.E., as well as 3 x A*s at A-Level (over 94% in French and Spanish,) I know the specifications for the reformed exams intimately, as well as the steps you need to take to succeed.

I would personalise my lessons to the needs of the student, depending on the amount of work that they are willing to do outside of class time and the grade that they want to achieve. For example, I would be happy to set past paper questions for the student and go through them with the student in lesson time if needed. I would intend to use the target language as much as possible, to nurture the student’s communication skills.

Andrew is so enthusiastic about teaching and is amazing at French. He is very good at explaining things slowly so you can understand easily. Also he never gives up into you feel confident in what you’re learning. I would 100% recommend Andrew as a tutor, he is the best!
