About Amber
I'm a cambridge student in statistics, I'm good at math and statistic. I worked as a teaching assistant in English language courses for foreign students. I taught English as a foreign
language to small groups of high school students, using the technique of language immersion,
which focuses on speaking and writing rather than just covering grammar and vocabulary,
thus improving the student’s confidence in the target language.

I applied to Cambridge from abroad, with no guidance from anyone except my parents. I
never received any kind of help UK students are inundated with, and nevertheless got an
offer. Therefore I believe that there is no right way or template that guarantees an applicant
will get accepted to their preferred university. I believe there are, however, a handful of
components every successful application must have. These are a clear writing style, a
coherent structure, a display of interest in and passion for your chosen subject, and a personal
touch. I work with my students to achieve this combination. I try to change as little of the
content as possible – this is, after all, their personal statement – and focus instead on helping
them showcase their talent and potential in the best light. I also offer interview practice
sessions. I conduct mock interviews with my students and offer feedback on how to
strengthen their performance. Getting used to the interview format in advance and knowing
what to expect can help a lot with diminishing stage fright and boosting the student’s
confidence, which allows them to best showcase their ability in their chosen subject at the
actual interview.
