About Owen
Hello, I'm Owen and I’m currently studying for an MSci Natural Sciences at St Catharine’s College, Cambridge.
I have 4* grades at A2 (Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths) and I have studied chemistry, biology and further maths at University level. I am friendly and approachable, and have a genuine love of science and mathematics and I would work with you so you achieve a solid understanding of the topic, while taking into account your own learning needs and individual learning style. I believe students are most able to improve in an interactive, flexible environment where questions are encouraged. Never be afraid to ask! And if you don’t understand the first time, keep asking until you do!
I talk through topics at your pace to ensure a clear foundation and understanding and work through example questions and calculations to consolidate this knowledge and build confidence. You will also gain experience of exam technique.
My priority at all times will be helping you achieve the best out of the topic and reaching your maximum potential, while hopefully having a bit of fun along the way!
Each session will be centred about you and will be completely dependent on your requirements.I will identify your strengths and weaknesses as well as what you would like to focus on and develop a programme to help you reach your full potential. There will be some homework, which we will then review together the next time we meet. This will help measure your progress and ensure that our teaching sessions are as effective as possible.
I will familiarise myself with your Exam Board’s specifications and marking scheme and the knowledge and key terms required to get the best grades. I will provide example past paper questions so you can practise not only applying the knowledge you’ve gained effectively but also exam technique and keeping calm under pressure.
Feedback from you will be very important – if you are not happy with a way I’m teaching a particular thing, please tell me and I will change it! That way, I can be adaptable to your learning needs and ensure you get the very best out of your sessions!

Owen is a dedicated and outstanding scientist and mathematician. He has an excellent work ethic and I would highly recommend him as a Tutor.
