The first step in Wendy's process, well in advance of my actual lesson, was her thorough evaluation of the tools and products I had been using. She told me what to keep, what to toss, and recommended additions and replacements to support a more successful makeup application. Because she's not selling anything, this wasn't a sales push, as I might have gotten from someone working in a cosmetics department or as a brand representative.

Bonus: The things Wendy suggested actually cost less than what I was used to spending on makeup! Typically, spending less would have made me nervous, but I was able to do this with confidence, knowing I had the benefit of refined 'insider' product knowledge from someone who's been professionally beautifying brides, news anchors, celebrities and other clients from all walks of life, for decades.

Once Wendy completed her makeup bag reconnaisance, we set a date for the lesson itself, with a bit of lead time for me to obtain some mission-critical items. On the day of the lesson, she spent 90 minutes patiently detailing proper technique for each step of makeup application, explaining how to work with color, shadow and light to bring out the best in my features. And because an online lesson with Wendy is fully hands-on learning, at the end I had the confidence of knowing I can do this myself -- because I just did.

I took a lesson from Wendy this year and it was not only a lot of fun, but very helpful! As I'm aging, I wasn't sure how to apply makeup anymore and Wendy taught me everything from what products I needed to add to my collection to how to apply them.
