About Alice
Helping students understand calculus comes down to slowing the pace of the lecture until the logic reveals itself to you. I suppose it is a bit unconventional to focus on the why instead of just the how, but that is exactly how I survived my own studies.
My Master of Science from UC Berkeley drives my approach to u-substitution and Taylor series. I have guided 241 students through the hurdles of derivatives and optimization problems with a focus on deep conceptual clarity. Working through implicit differentiation and sequences and series is actually quite fun. I enjoy seeing the moment when the math finally clicks for a new learner.

A pencil hits the paper and we begin by deconstructing a difficult derivative problem into its smallest, most manageable components. Since I hold a Master of Science from UC Berkeley, I make sure we treat these concepts with the mathematical rigor they deserve while keeping the atmosphere energetic and focused. During our 10 minute blocks of intensive practice, we will address your specific areas of confusion by working through past-paper walkthroughs each session.
This methodical process allows us to tackle even the most difficult limits and continuity challenges without feeling overwhelmed. I prefer to let the work speak for itself during our time together.
