About Xinyi

My name is Xinyi, born in a South China city, now living in Canada. I lived in China and speak Mandarin for 20 years and started to learn English at 6 years old.

I graduated as a UX designer from Algonquin College in Ottawa, the capital, but I also work here and there. Since a young age, I have explored German, French, Japanese and researched much on linguistics. With years of experience in learning different languages, I discovered some methods that almost apply to all language learning.

As a tutor, I hope to be your friend in your path to another language and we might become life-long friends! The best way that I found to begin a language is to have daily conversation. When you don't have that language environment, you need someone likes me who is patient and interesting!

About the lesson

Hi, I am Xinyi! I am a UX designer graduated from a Canadian College. I have been in Ottawa for two years and travelled to Australia with more global trip plans. I love travelling, international conferences, and my friends are from all parts of the world.

In my class, we are not just teacher & student; we will be more like two friends chatting. I am an amateur linguist with experience researching and learning English, Korean and Japanese, so I highly empathize your pain in language study. And I am a language student just like you, so feel free to give me advice during class.

My methodology: Listening –> Speaking –> Reading –> Writing
This is how we make our progress. This process can be adjusted based on your level and needs. Before we begin, you can tell me what is your purpose and your expectation from the lesson and your level. I will prepare interesting and practical materials of each stage to you. In the first two stages, you will have 30% homework, 70% in-class listening and conversation with me. The last two stages, there will be more homework and in-class marking.

I do 20$ is because I am not taking this as the main source of income. I hope we can have an honest, open and interesting lessons together. But low-price doesn't mean low-quality, once we get into it, I will be very serious about your needs.
