About Vo
I am Vo Hoang Quan, a FIDE Candidate Master from Vietnam, currently based in Geneva, Switzerland, where I am a first-year student at IFM Business School.
I have played competitive chess from a young age and have won multiple medals over the years at Vietnamese national, Southeast Asian, and Asian youth championships. More recently, I won the Silver Medal in the Open U2000 section of the FIDE World Amateur Chess Championship 2025, scoring 7.5/9.
Beyond competing, I am the Founder and President of Chess of Vietduc, the chess club of my former high school. I have also coached high school students from Grades 10 to 12, several of whom later won medals at city-level chess competitions.
I am fluent in English and enjoy working with ambitious students who want to improve seriously, gain confidence in classical chess, and achieve measurable progress in both online rating and FIDE Elo.

I offer personalised chess training with a strong focus on classical chess improvement and rating progression, both online and in FIDE-rated tournaments.
My lessons are designed to help students improve the skills that matter most in serious competitive chess: calculation, positional understanding, opening preparation, endgames, time management, and practical decision-making.
A typical lesson includes analysis of your recent games, identification of recurring weaknesses, targeted exercises, and a clear training plan for improvement. I also pay close attention to the student’s thinking process, so we can understand not only which move was wrong, but why the decision was made and how to improve it.
My goal is to help students become stronger and more consistent players, whether they want to increase their online rating, improve their FIDE Elo, perform better in classical tournaments, or prepare for competitive events.
As a FIDE Candidate Master with experience at national, Southeast Asian, Asian, and international levels, I combine tournament experience with structured and practical coaching. My lessons are suitable for ambitious beginners, junior players, intermediate players, and competitive players who want measurable progress.
