Hi, I’m Abby!

With my strong academic background and passion for teaching, I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our sessions. My ongoing studies as a second-year medical student at Cardiff University ensure that I'm equipped with the skills necessary to support you effectively.

Moreover, I am committed to ensuring that you feel confident in my guidance. Whether it's assisting my younger sister with her studies or aiding fellow peers in understanding complex concepts, I have a breadth of experience in tutoring across various subjects and scenarios. I tailor my teaching methods to meet individual needs, ensuring that our sessions are engaging and productive.

I am happy to listen to any questions and am good at explaining concepts in multiple different ways to help you get to grips with whatever it is you feel you need help with :))

About the lesson

Techniques and Teaching Methodology:

I believe in creating an interactive and engaging learning environment tailored to each student's needs and learning style. I employ a variety of techniques, including:

- Breaking down complex concepts into simpler, more digestible parts.
- Utilising visual aids, diagrams, and real-life examples to enhance learning.
- Using alternative teaching methods, such as visual explanations and whiteboards, to facilitate understanding.
- Encouraging active participation through discussions, problem-solving, and hands-on activities.
- Providing constructive feedback and reinforcement to solidify learning.
- Fostering critical thinking skills by encouraging students to apply their knowledge.

Typical Length of a Lesson:
The typical length of a lesson depends on the student's preferences and needs, but it usually ranges from 1 to 2 hours per session. However, I remain flexible and open to adjusting the lesson duration as needed.

Qualifications/Experience as a Tutor:

I am a second-year medical student at Cardiff University, with a strong academic background and a passion for teaching. My experience includes:

- Tutoring my youngest sister across a plethora subjects for many years.
- Assisting peers in my boarding house with challenging concepts.
- Tutoring a student to get into medical school, assisting with UCAT preparation and interview practice (she ended up getting 4 offers).

I am a friendly and approachable individual, possessing very strong communication and patience skills which are undoubtably vital as a tutor.

Target Audience for Lessons:
My lessons are suitable for students of various levels and ages, but I specialise in tutoring science subjects. Whether it's helping a GCSE student prepare for exams or assisting an A-level student with complex concepts, I am dedicated to supporting each student in reaching their academic goals.

In my free time I am a keen netball and waterpolo player, I also love cooking and to travel.
