About James
Whilst I am new to teaching students in a professional manner, I have plenty of experience with teaching across the past few years. Previously, I had only taught / encouraged younger family members how to learn musical instruments; football, and a little bit of geography. As my younger brother recently prepared to sit his GCSE's, I was able to help him a little more- this being an influential factor in teaching at a more professional level, as I enjoyed it. Prior to the COVID pandemic, I travelled to America for 3 months as a Camp Counsellor at a summer holiday camp. As a result of this, I've developed a lot greater patience and resilience for teaching and helping children and young adults. Having recently become a Human Geography graduate from Cardiff University, I'm now looking to help teach students Geography up to university standard!

I like to approach teaching, and revision exercises, from the position that it's ok to be wrong. The current education system is very pressurised, and I certainly felt that I benefitted significantly from feeling confident to get things wrong, and to then correct myself and learn. Revision based memory tasks and activities have been proven to be very useful in reaffirming what is already learnt in the classroom. Going through past papers, and identifying example questions is a great way to prepare for exams- a method I love to use. I'm easy to talk to, and know first hand how hard current GCSE'S and A-Levels are, which I hope is an advantage over those who have not gone through it so recently.
