About Maelle

I'm Maëlle, French, based in London. I've spent over 7 years in some of the most demanding and competitive professional environments there are — investment banking, private equity, and investor relations for listed companies (Bank of America, StepStone, Octopus Energy, Amber Infrastructure).

In these environments, nobody formally teaches you how to manage your career day-to-day — you learn on the job, often after missing a chance to stand up for yourself, or letting a promotion slip by because you hadn't prepared the case for it. I had to build my own tools and learn how to negotiate for myself more often than average as I moved between roles to grow faster.

What drives me to share this today is simple: these are all the tools I wish I'd known earlier for a successful career — the ones that would have saved me years of doubt, missed opportunities, and learning things the hard way. My goal is to hand them to you directly: a concrete method and a simple system to put in place, not generic advice on "how to communicate well at work."

About the lesson

Looking for a job, learning to persuade in just a few minutes — but also holding your own day-to-day in a demanding work environment, managing your workload, earning respect, moving forward without burning out — these are skills most people never get the chance to properly learn. This listing brings together all the tools I wish I'd known earlier in my own career, so you don't have to learn them the hard way.

I've spent over 7 years in some of the most demanding and competitive professional environments there are: investment banking (Bank of America), private equity (StepStone, Igneo/First Sentier), and investor relations for listed companies (managed by Octopus Energy, Amber Infrastructure). These are environments where you quickly learn, out of necessity, very concrete methods for managing your career, your workload, and your professional relationships under pressure — methods that translate directly to any other sector once properly adapted.

I also trained directly under Victor Cheng's programme, ex-McKinsey consultant, on the methodologies used in structuring pitches and applications for the most selective hiring processes.
